چکیده

Objective: The key objective of the study is to compare Propofol-based total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) with Isoflurane-based inhalational for controlled hypotension during functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). Materials and Methods: This a prospective randomized, single-blinded clinical study. involved 40 patients posted elective FESS surgery, selected randomly from ENT department. Anesthesia was induced Inj. Midazolam 2 mg, Fentanyl µg/kg, Propofol mg/kg, Vecuronium 0.1 mg /kg ventilated using oxygen, air, Isoflurane (FiO2 0.5) in isofurane group patients. Injections midazolam, µg/kg fentanyl, mg/kg propofol, vecuronium, as well oxygen air ventilation, were used induce (FIO2 TIVA Fromme boezaart scale an evaluation surgical site bleeding. Results: average blood loss isoflurane 134.25 ± 4.65ml propofol 66.95 4.28ml. quality field (3.13 0.9), 0.8). results are significant. Conclusion: Total anesthesia provides notable advantages over traditionally anesthetic technique conditions intraoperative loss.

Total intravenous anaesthesia in endoscopic sinus-nasal surgery.

Aim of this randomized study (64 patients) was to improve the control of bleeding during functional endoscopic sinusal surgery by means of controlled hypotension achieved through either total intravenous anaesthesia using remifentanyl and propofol (27 patients), or inhaled using isoflurane and fentanyl (37 patients). The following parameters were monitored before administration of anaesthesia (...

Intravenous clonidine as a part of balanced anaesthesia for controlled hypotension in functional endoscopic sinus surgery: A randomised controled trial

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Controlled hypotension with balanced anaesthesia minimises blood loss. This study was done to evaluate the effectiveness of intravenous clonidine as a single bolus dose to establish controlled hypotension during functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). METHODS This randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was done in a tertiary hospital in India. Sixty America...

Inhalational or total intravenous anaesthesia: is total intravenous anaesthesia useful and are there economic benefits?

PURPOSE OF REVIEW The comparison of inhalational and intravenous anaesthesia has been the subject of many controlled trials and meta-analyses. These reported diverse endpoints typically including measures of the speed and quality of induction of anaesthesia, haemodynamic changes, operating conditions, various measures of awakening, postoperative nausea and vomiting and discharge from the recove...

Effects of Intra-Operative Total Intravenous Anaesthesia with Propofol versus Inhalational Anaesthesia with Sevoflurane on Post-Operative Pain in Liver Surgery: A Retrospective Case-Control Study

BACKGROUND Patients receiving total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) with propofol have been shown to experience less postoperative pain. We evaluated the post-operative analgesic effects of propofol compared with sevoflurane maintenance of anesthesia in liver surgery. This study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02179437). METHODS In this retrospective study, records of patients who unde...
